Most Fuel Efficient Cars in India – Money Savers
Indian car buyers are unique in the sense that they are obsessed with the fuel-economy offered by a vehicle. Very often, the purchase decisions in India are made according to the fuel-efficiency offered by the car. The fact that India experiences rising fuel prices almost on a regular basis, and the increase in the general cost of living could be some reasons for this obsession. However, it has resulted in companies coming up with highly efficient cars for the people of India. Here is a look at the country’s most fuel-efficient cars:
Honda City Diesel (2014) – Offering a whooping mileage of 26 kmpl (ARAI Certified), the all-new Honda City tops the chart of fuel-efficient cars. It is currently the most fuel-efficient car in India. Powered by a 1.5-liter i-DTEC engine, the City comes with a six-speed gearbox.
Honda Amaze Diesel – Following the heels of its sibling is Honda Amaze, the compact sedan, which returns a high mileage of 25.8 kmpl. The first diesel car from Honda turned over the prospects of its maker by offering great mileage and good performance. It uses the same engine as the City, but with five-speed gearbox.
Chevrolet Beat Diesel – Offering a mileage of 25.44 kmpl, the Chevrolet Beat diesel is next on the list. Its 936 cc three-cylinder diesel power mill makes the Beat the smallest diesel car in India in terms of engine displacement. It is also the smallest car with the highest fuel efficiency.
Tata Nano Twist – The small wonder, Nano and its sibling, Nano Twist are next on the list, with fuel economy of 25 kmpl and 25.40 kmpl respectively. These indigenously built Indian cars are unique, because they are the only petrol cars, which made it to this list.
Ford Fiesta Facelift (2014) – When it comes to fuel economy, this Ford car is just behind Tata Nano Twist with a mileage of 25.01 kmpl. An engine revamp and a better aerodynamic styling are stated as the reason for the improved mileage.
Tata Indigo eCS/Tata Indica CR4 – Another set of Tata cars featuring in the list of fuel-efficient cars is the Indigo and Indica, both offering an impressive mileage of 25.0 kmpl.
Hyundai Xcent Diesel – The recently introduced Hyundai Xcent is another topper in the list of fuel-efficient cars. It returns a high mileage of 24.4 kmpl.
Hyundai Grand i10 Diesel – another Hyundai car that has made it into the list is the Grand i10 with its impressive fuel economy of 24 kmpl.
Apart from these, the Etios Diesel variants from Toyota, offering 23.59 kmpl are also fuel-efficient cars.
All said and done, the upcoming Maruti Ciaz, with a mileage of more than 26 kmpl, will be the most fuel-efficient car in India.
